Aboriginal Engagement Officer
About Us
At Reflections Holidays, our purpose is to share nature's playground with our guests in a way that gives back to our communities and nurtures the environment.
As NSW's largest holiday park operator, we care for some of the state's most beautiful holiday parks and community reserves, located on Crown land rich in Aboriginal history, culture and connection to Country.
We're a profit-for-purpose organisation, which means the work we do goes beyond creating memorable holiday experiences. We reinvest in the places and communities we care for, with a commitment to positive social, cultural, environmental and economic outcomes.
Our reconciliation journey is an important part of this commitment.
Through our Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan (2026–2027), we're working alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to strengthen relationships, celebrate culture, create opportunities and deepen our understanding of caring for Country.
And we're looking for someone who shares this commitment to help us turn these aspirations into action.
The Role
This is an opportunity to make a real difference for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities across NSW.
As our Aboriginal Engagement Officer, you'll be a trusted connector between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and Reflections Holidays, helping build relationships founded on respect, understanding and shared outcomes.
Working closely with Traditional Owners, Local Aboriginal Land Councils, community organisations and our Reflections teams, you'll play a key role in bringing our Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan to life.
Your work will be varied, meaningful and community-focused. You'll have the opportunity to:
- Build strong community connections – Develop and nurture respectful relationships with Traditional Owners, Custodians, Aboriginal organisations and local communities, ensuring their voices and perspectives inform our work.
- Bring reconciliation commitments to life – Work alongside teams across Reflections to turn our RAP commitments into practical initiatives that deliver meaningful outcomes.
- Celebrate and share culture – Support cultural learning, On-Country experiences, NAIDOC Week and National Reconciliation Week activities, and opportunities to share local histories, stories and languages.
- Create opportunities for Aboriginal businesses – Connect local Aboriginal-owned businesses, cultural tourism operators and service providers with opportunities across our holiday parks and reserves.
- Support Caring for Country – Facilitate partnerships that bring Aboriginal knowledge and perspectives into how we care for and manage the land.
- Open doors for future generations – Work with schools, education providers and our teams to support employment, training and development pathways for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
You'll also help coordinate and track the progress of our reconciliation initiatives, ensuring our commitments lead to genuine and lasting outcomes.
About You
We're looking for someone who is passionate about their community, values genuine relationships and wants to create positive change.
You may already be working in Aboriginal community engagement, cultural programs, education, tourism, government or a related field. What matters most is your ability to connect with people, build trust and turn good ideas into meaningful action.
The successful candidate will bring:
- Strong cultural knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, communities, histories and protocols.
- Experience building respectful and productive relationships with Aboriginal communities, organisations and stakeholders.
- A genuine commitment to supporting Aboriginal self-determination and ensuring local voices are heard and respected.
- Experience coordinating community initiatives, partnerships or projects and following through to achieve outcomes.
- Confidence communicating and collaborating with a diverse range of people, from community members and Elders to operational teams and senior leaders.
- Strong organisational skills, initiative and the ability to manage competing priorities.
- The ability to support others to develop cultural understanding and engage respectfully with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
- A current Australian driver's licence and willingness to travel throughout NSW.
Experience in tourism, cultural tourism, community development or working with government and business stakeholders would be highly regarded.
Importantly, we're looking for someone who can bring their cultural knowledge, lived experience and community perspective to the role, while building trusted relationships and delivering meaningful outcomes.
The Perks
In addition to a competitive salary and hybrid working arrangements upon completion of relevant onboarding and training, you will have access to:
